Our community is currently facing very difficult financial circumstances, and many are unable to provide for the needs of their families. B.O.H.M. desires to help these families in our own community, so we established an annual Feed the Need Food Drive to help those victimized by poverty and hunger.
We encourage you to join this effort to help our less fortunate neighbors. This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many as well as making a significant impact on our community.
*The following are some shocking facts about hunger in Memphis:*
* 159,896 people live below the official poverty level in Memphis, TN (a family of 4 brings home less than $28,834 per year)
* The poverty rate in Memphis has risen 2.6 percent since 2000, to 26.4 percent
* Children are one of the highest risk groups - 1 in 4 children in our city do not get enough food to meet their nutritional needs.
* Less than 20% of the people receiving food assistance are homeless. The majority of people receiving food assistance are working poor households whose incomes don’t stretch far enough to put food on the table every day of the month.
Unfortunately, there is no way we could service and feed every family that is in need in our community, but that does not stop B.O.H.M from aiming to cushion the blow of poverty and hunger by being a blessing to needy families across our community.
Thank You!
